Trader Joe’s Planned for East Colonial Drive in Orlando, Permits Show
A new Trader Joe’s could be coming to East Colonial Drive in Orlando. A city permit application filed this fall lists a Trader Joe’s store at Colonial Marketplace, near Orlando Fashion Square.
Where Would the New Trader Joe’s Be?
The permit lists the store at 3001 E. Colonial Drive, in the Colonial Marketplace shopping plaza at Colonial Drive and Maguire Boulevard. The plaza sits next to Orlando Fashion Square in Orange County.
What Do the Permit Records Show?
A City of Orlando permit application describes converting an existing building into a Trader Joe’s store. The building was previously a Burlington. The plaza’s leasing listing shows about 12,500 square feet for the space.
Has Trader Joe’s Confirmed the Store?
Not yet. Trader Joe’s hasn’t officially announced the Colonial Drive location, and no opening date has been released. The permit is still under city review.
Are Other Trader Joe’s Stores Coming to Central Florida?
Yes. Trader Joe’s has also been working on new locations around the Orlando area, including one near Waterford Lakes in east Orlando. The Colonial Drive store would add another option for shoppers in the central and east Orlando area.
What This Means
If it moves forward, the Colonial Drive store would bring a popular grocery option to one of Orlando’s busiest corridors and put new life into a former Burlington space. We’ll share an update once Trader Joe’s confirms the store or announces an opening date.
